Marche Region establishes AI observatory to support SMEs

The Marche Region has established the Osservatorio AI Marche in Ancona, a new body designed to coordinate strategies and expertise in the field of artificial intelligence. The observatory aims to draft the first regional action plan for AI to guide the digital transition toward 2030.

Coordinated by Economic Development Councilor Giacomo Bugaro, the observatory serves as a stable workspace to share guidelines and priorities, moving away from fragmented interventions. It seeks to create a unified governance structure to direct technological innovation toward measurable results for the local productive system.

The initiative focuses on supporting the region's network of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). By integrating AI into production processes, the plan aims to strengthen productivity and competitiveness within the framework of the new Industrial Plan 2030. The observatory brings together the regional government, local universities, technology transfer centers, innovation platforms, and the Digital Innovation Hub to bridge scientific research with practical business applications.
