Approximately 16.5% of families in the region face domestic humidity, a figure slightly higher than the national average of 16.3%. Other significant concerns include damaged structures affecting 11% of households, poor lighting in 9%, and noise exposure in 7% of residences.

The health implications are notable; the World Health Organization states that 13% of chronic childhood asthma cases in industrialized nations are linked to excessive indoor humidity.

On a local level, specific cases of housing degradation have been reported in Ravenna. A resident of public housing has reported severe mold, water infiltration, and falling plaster, noting that the conditions have led to medical emergencies, including a child requiring hospital treatment for asthma. Despite reports to local authorities and the fire department, residents have expressed frustration over the lack of timely repairs and remediation.
