Marche Region implements €9.6 million support plan for elderly and disability care
The Marche region of Italy has launched a €9.6 million extraordinary investment plan to assist families facing rising costs for residential care facilities. Starting October 26, 2026, the initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on middle-to-low-income households caring for the elderly, people with disabilities, and those with mental health issues.
The program is designed to prevent family members, particularly women, from being forced to leave the workforce to act as full-time caregivers due to the inability to afford residential fees. The funding is divided into two main intervention lines: one targeting active-age women residing in Marche with an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) below €25,000, and another for other family members or residents meeting similar income criteria.
In a separate discussion regarding regional healthcare, Forza Italia regional councilors noted that RSA (residential care facility) bed capacity has increased by 16% since 2019. They also highlighted that home care for citizens over 65 has risen from 5.3% to 10.8%, emphasizing a shift toward territorial and community-based healthcare services.
