Marche region implements incentives to retain growing number of young graduates

In the Marche region of Italy, the proportion of young people with tertiary education has grown across all provinces between 2018 and 2024. Specifically, Fermo reached 40.7%, Ascoli 36.3%, and Macerata 36.1%. This regional trend contrasts with the national average, where only 31.1% of young adults aged 25 to 34 hold tertiary titles, significantly lower than the European average of 44.8%.

To address the challenge of retaining skilled workers, the Marche Region has introduced the ‘Marche Giovani’ package. This initiative provides incentives of up to 50,000 euros for companies hiring highly qualified employees under the age of 36, with additional benefits for those returning from abroad or other regions. The program also includes research grants, job placements, and funding for innovative start-ups to bridge the gap between education and industry.
