Marche Region issues alert over fraudulent CUP SMS scams

The Marche Region has issued an alert regarding fraudulent SMS messages impersonating the Centro Unico di Prenotazione (CUP). These messages falsely claim to have confidential information and urge recipients to contact specific numbers urgently.

Authorities clarify that these messages do not originate from regional health information systems. The scam aims to trick citizens into calling premium-rate numbers or disclosing sensitive personal, medical, or banking information, including OTP codes and login credentials.

To prevent fraud, the region advises citizens not to call the numbers provided in suspicious texts, not to click on any links, and to verify all medical appointments through official regional health service channels. The only legitimate institutional CUP numbers are 800-098798 and 0721-1779301.
