Marche region sees rise in university graduate percentages

Data analyzed by Openpolis indicates that Italy's rate of young university graduates reached 31.1% in 2025. While this remains the second lowest rate in Europe—nearly 14 percentage points below the European average—the country has seen a steady increase of 4.2 percentage points since 2017.

In the Marche region, the percentage of graduates rose from 28.3% to 33.5%. Within the region, significant growth was observed in Macerata, which increased by 11.3 percentage points to reach 36.1%, and Ascoli Piceno, which grew by 8.7 percentage points to 41.4%. Conversely, the Pesaro/Urbino province saw a negligible increase of only 0.1%.

Nationally, 81 out of 107 provinces reported an increase in graduates. Notable high-growth areas include Ravenna, Livorno, and Macerata, while provinces such as Rieti and Siracusa experienced declines.
