Marche region targets year-round tourism through gastronomy and wellness
The Marche region in Italy is focusing on tourism de-seasonalization to attract visitors during the winter months. Massimiliano Polacco, director of Confcommercio Marche, suggests that the region can move beyond summer beach holidays by emphasizing experiential tourism, including gastronomy, wellness, and long weekend trips.
This shift is supported by international recognition, such as a feature in The Guardian, which highlighted Senigallia as a year-round destination. The British publication noted the city's ability to offer experiences beyond its famous Velvet Beach, including natural itineraries, historical heritage, and high-end culinary offerings from Michelin-starred restaurants like Uliassi and Madonnina del Pescatore.
