Marcianise water management crisis sparks privatization protests

The Coordinamento Acqua Bene Comune has announced a public meeting in Marcianise scheduled for October 17 to address the ongoing crisis in public water management within the Caserta and Provincia region.

The group is protesting against the privatization of water services and expressing concern over the structural crisis facing the service provider, ITL SpA. According to the coordination, ITL SpA faces debts totaling hundreds of millions of euros, chronic inefficiencies, and deteriorating networks. They also noted that the Corte dei Conti and the Tar have rejected the Ente idrico Campano and the assignment of services to ITL.

Organizers have criticized the silence of Marcianise Mayor Maria Luigia Iodice regarding requests for dialogue and previous campaign commitments. The meeting aims to inform citizens and institutions about the implications of current tariff plans and the lack of public oversight in the decision-making process.
