Marcin Romanowski may be hiding in an Opus Dei monastery in Serbia, says former justice minister
Former Polish justice minister Adam Bodnar told a legal outlet that the fugitive PiS deputy Marcin Romanowski could be concealed in a monastery belonging to the Catholic organisation Opus Dei. He explained that Opus Dei super‑numeraries live in isolated cells, which he likened to a monastic confinement, and suggested the location might be in Serbia, outside the European Union.
Bodnar stressed that his remark is speculative, but noted that Romanowski’s past ties to Opus Dei make such protection plausible. He added that being outside the EU would place Romanowski beyond the reach of the European Arrest Warrant currently issued against him. Serbian prosecutorial authorities have reportedly expressed willingness to cooperate with Polish investigators.
