Marco Antonio Villa declared a fugitive over R$ 570,000 child support debt

Brazilian historian and political commentator Marco Antonio Villa is considered a fugitive after a São Paulo court issued an arrest warrant due to an unpaid child support debt of approximately R$ 570,000.

The warrant, issued by Judge Eduardo Palma Pellegrinelli, mandates a 30-day detention with the possibility of a 30-day extension. Police attempted to locate Villa at addresses in São Paulo and São Bernardo do Campo but were unsuccessful.

Villa has publicly contested the debt, describing the legal situation as an “injustiça sem precedente” (unprecedented injustice). He claims the monthly obligation, which includes health insurance for his ex-wife and a 45-year-old son with a disability, exceeds R$ 40,000.

Villa stated that he has already paid nearly R$ 1.5 million through the sale of properties, savings, and loans. He also noted a discrepancy in his financial declarations, stating that his assets were transferred to his ex-wife, which explains why he declared no assets during his 2026 political candidacy.
