Marco Bellocchio documentary explores the director's life and career

Photographer Fabio Lovino has produced a documentary titled ‘Marco Bellocchio: La porta della Realtà’, exploring the career and personality of the prominent Italian director. The film, which was presented at the Locarno Film Festival, is scheduled for release in Italian theaters on August 27, distributed by Lucky Red.

Described as a hybrid between a cinematic essay and a collection of anecdotes, the documentary utilizes archival footage and behind-the-scenes material to examine Bellocchio’s poetic themes and his relationship with reality. The project features interviews with the director himself, as well as contributions from family members, including his wife and editor Francesca Calvelli and children Elena and Pier Giorgio, and professional colleagues such as actors Pierfrancesco Favino and Roberto Herlitzka.
