Marco Bonilla concludes presidency of Mexican Network of Child-Friendly Cities

Marco Bonilla, the Mayor of Chihuahua, has concluded his two-year term as president of the Mexican Network of Child-Friendly Cities (Red Mexicana de Ciudades Amigas de las Niñas, Niños y Adolescentes). During the XLI National Assembly held in León, it was announced that the network now includes 219 active municipalities.

Bonilla emphasized that the network's success lies in municipal actions to protect and listen to children and adolescents. The assembly also saw the inauguration of the tenth Board of Directors, which will be led by Alejandra Gutiérrez, the Mayor of León, for the 2026-2028 period.

The 2026 National “Child-Friendly City” Awards, judged by UNICEF and World Vision, were presented to several municipalities: Teoloyucan, Estado de México (Opinion of Children and Adolescents); Mérida, Yucatán (Health and Services); Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo (Education); Guerrero, Chihuahua (Recreation and Culture); and Guadalupe, Nuevo León (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Violence).
