Marco Cavazzin wins Best Direction at Locarno Film Festival

Marco Cavazzin has won the Pardino for Best WeShort Direction at the 79th Locarno Film Festival for his film “Mutrion”. The award, valued at 5,000 Swiss francs, was presented as part of the Pardi di Domani International Competition.

Produced by the Venice-based independent production house Etimo in collaboration with Goofy Studio and Magenta Film, “Mutrion” focuses on the landscape of the Northern Venice Lagoon. The film explores the concept of “nostalgia of damnation,” depicting the contradictory tension between the desire to leave a place and the pull to return. Cavazzin described the project as an attempt to use the landscape of Cavallino-Treporti, Punta Sabbioni, and the surrounding islands as a central narrative presence to express beauty, restlessness, and disorientation.
