Marco Cecchinato defeats David Ferrer in Albacete Legends Cup

Marco Cecchinato secured the first point for Italy in the IV Copa Leyendas de Tenis held at the Club Tenis Albacete. In a friendly international confrontation against Spain, Cecchinato defeated David Ferrer with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

Cecchinato, the only active player in the tournament lineup, utilized his physical conditioning to overcome the former world number three. After an even start in the first set, Cecchinato secured a decisive break in the fifth game to take the set 6-3. The second set followed a similar pattern, where Cecchinato broke twice, eventually closing the match after a double fault by Ferrer.

The tournament follows the current Davis Cup format to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Spain's first Davis Cup tie victory against Australia. The competition continues with a scheduled match between Tommy Robredo and Andreas Seppi.
