Witkoff and Kushner lead Miami talks on ending Ukraine conflict

US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with representatives from Ukraine, NATO, the European Commission, and the European Troika (France, Germany, and the UK) in Miami. The discussions aimed to find ways to de-escalate and end the conflict in Ukraine before the onset of winter.

Key topics included short-term winter preparedness measures, such as energy sector resilience and grain exports, as well as long-term security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe. The talks also addressed post-war reconstruction and economic prosperity, including Ukraine’s path toward EU membership.

Following these discussions, the White House confirmed that Witkoff and Kushner met with a Ukrainian delegation on October 9 to discuss a new unified proposal for ending combat operations. Additionally, reports suggest that Witkoff and Kushner may visit Moscow by the end of the month to meet with Vladimir Putin, following expressions of hope for a meeting voiced by Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
