US diplomatic efforts intensify as Trump signals potential Ukraine peace deal

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Ukraine would not exist as a sovereign state without American assistance, including aid provided during the Trump administration. His comments come amid tensions regarding reported delays in interceptor missile deliveries and restrictions on intelligence sharing, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested may be an attempt to force a surrender.

Simultaneously, US special envoy Steve Witkoff has been engaged in high-level diplomacy, meeting with President Zelensky in Oslo and subsequently with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg. These meetings aimed to develop negotiation proposals for a potential settlement. Following these discussions, President Donald Trump indicated that a resolution to the conflict may be closer than ever, noting that Russia has expressed openness to resuming trilateral peace talks involving the US, Russia, and Ukraine in mid-November.

While diplomatic movements offer hope for a ceasefire, the conflict remains active. Recent reports indicate continued missile strikes in Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions, alongside ongoing military actions by both sides.
