Marco Rubio engages in Central Asia and condemns West Bank attack

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has launched a diplomatic and economic push into Central Asia to strengthen ties and counter the influence of Russia and China. Leading a delegation of 200 business leaders, Rubio is scheduled to participate in a ‘C5+1’ ministerial meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, alongside ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The initiative aims to deepen partnerships, particularly within the energy sector.

Separately, the United States has expressed deep concern regarding an attack on American photojournalist Heidi Levine in the occupied West Bank. Rubio described the incident, in which Levine was reportedly assaulted while reporting on the Palestinian olive harvest, as ‘not looking good’ and called on Israel to curb such violence. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee also condemned the attack, labeling it an ‘abominable act of terror’ and demanding a full investigation and criminal prosecution of those responsible.
