Marco Ruffini joins Defense Staff after leading Carabinieri in Terni

Major Marco Ruffini, who has commanded the Carabinieri investigative nucleus in Terni for just under three years, will assume a senior role at the Italian State Major of Defence in Rome. Effective 3 August, he will serve as Head of the P.P.F. Security of the Territory section within the Planning, Programming and Budget Office.

Ruffini, a native of Sulmona, holds law and strategic studies degrees and completed training at the Teuliè Military School, Modena Academy and Rome Officer School. His previous postings include command of the operational and radio‑mobile units in Ancona and leadership of Carabinieri companies in Atessa and Trapani, as well as a peace‑keeping mission in Kosovo. In Terni he oversaw several high‑profile investigations, notably drug‑trafficking cases and the May arrest of a foreign suspect in an attempted femicide in Stroncone. His farewell ceremony was held in Perugia, attended by Brigadier General Luca Corbellotti, commander of the Umbria Carabinieri Legion.
