Marco Verde defeats Guillermo Hernandez by stoppage in San Diego

Mexican Olympian Marco Verde secured a fifth-round technical knockout victory against Canadian prospect Guillermo Hernandez at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego on September 19, 2026. The middleweight bout featured two previously undefeated fighters, with Verde improving his professional record to 7-0 with four knockouts.

Verde controlled much of the fight using his southpaw jab and relentless body punching. A moment of tension occurred in the third round when Verde was sent to the canvas; however, replays indicated the knockdown resulted from Hernandez inadvertently stepping on Verde’s foot rather than a legal punch. Verde recovered quickly and continued his assault, leading the referee to stop the fight in the fifth round.

With this win, the Mazatlán native marks his third international victory following previous appearances in Saudi Arabia and Las Vegas.
