Marco Wittmann wins 20th DTM race at Nürburgring
Marco Wittmann secured his 20th DTM victory at the Nürburgring on Sunday, ending a two-year winless streak. Driving for Schubert Motorsport, the 36-year-old BMW pilot utilized strategic pit stops and precise overtaking to lead the 39-lap race after a chaotic start.
Eighteen-year-old Tom Kalender of Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf achieved his first career podium, finishing second after climbing nine positions. Thomas Preining took third place, leaving him just one point behind championship leader Maro Engel in the standings.
The race was marked by an early first-corner collision that triggered a safety car deployment. The incident forced the retirement of championship leader Maro Engel and Lucas Auer, both driving Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars.
