Marconi Perillo summoned to CPI investigation and reconciles with political ally

Marconi Perillo, former governor of Goiás and current PSDB candidate for governor, has been summoned by a Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (CPI) in São Paulo. The investigation focuses on potential irregularities involving approximately R$ 83.6 million in public incentives allocated to the Jockey Club de São Paulo between 2018 and 2025. Perillo, a partner and former board member of the club, is expected to provide clarifications regarding administrative, financial, and patrimonial matters, specifically concerning the use of funds from the Rouanet Law and the Transfer of Construction Rights (TDC) program.

The CPI is examining suspicions of duplicate invoices, contracts with companies lacking operational structure, and expenditures deemed incompatible with the intended purpose of the funds, such as costs for hotels, imported wines, and restaurants. One Goiânia-based construction company is under scrutiny for receiving R$ 11.2 million despite allegedly having no physical office or employees.

Separately, Ernesto Roller, a PSDB candidate for the Senate, issued a statement addressing his past personal attacks against Perillo. Following a 2018 court ruling that ordered Roller to pay R$ 100,000 in damages for insults made in 2014, Roller stated that the judicial decision led him to recognize Perillo’s honesty. The two politicians are now running on the same majoritarian ticket in Goiás.
