Marcos Cesar Acosta Pleads Guilty in Record New Jersey Meth Bust

Marcos Cesar Acosta, a 47‑year‑old Chicago resident, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Camden to one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 260 pounds of methamphetamine that were seized from a truck entering New Jersey on April 28, 2026. The haul – three black storage boxes, a duffel bag and a garbage bag – represents the largest meth seizure in New Jersey history.

Acosta faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in federal prison, up to life imprisonment, and a fine of up to $10 million. Sentencing is set for December 17, 2026. The investigation was led by the DEA’s MOPOD Enforcement Group 11 and the DEA Camden Resident Office, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation. A co‑conspirator, Carlos Cordero‑Guiterrez, a 53‑year‑old Mexican national, was also charged.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Stefanie Roddy said the seizure “saved countless lives,” highlighting the operation’s public‑health impact.
