Marcos Franchi, longtime representative of Diego Maradona, dies at 75

Marcos Franchi, a prominent football agent and longtime representative of Diego Maradona, has died at the age of 75. He passed away this Thursday at the Hospital Alemán in Buenos Aires following a long illness.

Franchi held a significant role in Maradona’s career, becoming his exclusive representative in 1990 following Maradona’s second league title with Napoli. He managed several of the icon's most turbulent periods, including the 1991 doping sanction, the transition to Sevilla in 1992, and the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

Beyond Maradona, Franchi managed a diverse portfolio of international and local football figures, including Matías Almeyda, Juan Román Riquelme, Diego Forlán, and Diego Placente. Almeyda, who described Franchi as a mentor and “second father,” confirmed the news and honored his legacy of hard work and guidance.
