Marcos Ilabaca demands solutions for Choroico and Tronlico communities

Chilean Deputy Marcos Ilabaca has formally requested government intervention to address long-standing issues affecting the communities of Choroico and Tronlico in the La Unión commune of the Los Ríos Region.

Following field visits to meet with local families and leaders, Ilabaca presented the situation to the Chamber of Deputies. Key grievances include the deterioration of Route T-671 and local roads caused by heavy truck traffic from forestry companies. Residents also reported significant issues with airborne dust affecting homes and educational facilities, such as the Choroico Rural School and the Erikín Kindergarten.

Additional concerns raised by the community involve the quality of drinking water and potential health risks. There are also allegations regarding the irregular dumping of fecal sludge and other environmental impacts stemming from local productive activities. Ilabaca has called upon various government institutions to conduct inspections and provide necessary oversight to prevent further environmental and health consequences.
