Marcos Lamacchia negotiates R$ 2 billion Vasco SAF acquisition
Investor Marcos Lamacchia is in advanced negotiations to acquire 90% of Vasco da Gama’s football corporation (SAF) for over R$ 2 billion. Lamacchia, son of Crefisa owner José Roberto Lamacchia and stepson of Palmeiras president Leila Pereira, recently appeared at the Nubank Parque stadium wearing a Vasco jersey during a match against Palmeiras.
The transaction is currently awaiting judicial authorization to proceed with a formal auction. Lamacchia has also proposed plans to accelerate payments to creditors involved in Vasco’s judicial recovery process, aiming to settle debts originally scheduled for 2026 through 2028.
The National Agency for Regulation and Sustainability of Football (Anresf) is monitoring the deal for potential conflicts of interest regarding multi-ownership, as the close relationship between the investor and the president of Palmeiras has raised questions. Vasco has submitted documentation to the agency for review.
