Marcos Pires, prominent Paraíba lawyer, dies at 71

Marcos Pires, a prominent lawyer in Paraíba, passed away at the age of 71 on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. He died at the Hospital Nossa Senhora das Neves in João Pessoa while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Over a career spanning four decades, Pires was a respected figure in the regional legal community. In 2008, he received the Medalha de Epitácio Pessoa, the highest honor awarded by the Legislative Assembly of Paraíba (ALPB), recognizing his contributions to justice and society.

His wake was held on Thursday, October 8, at the Cemitério Parque das Acácias in João Pessoa, with the burial scheduled for 4:00 PM. He is survived by his wife, two children, and grandchildren.
