Marcos Rogério proposes mining regularization and community support in Rondônia
Marcos Rogério, a senator and candidate for the government of Rondônia, has presented his 2027–2030 government plan, which includes specific proposals for mining and traditional communities.
To address illegal mining activities—which have recently faced enforcement actions by the Federal Police and Ibama in the Madeira River region—Rogério proposes the ‘Sustainable Mining and Legal Gold of Rondônia’ program. This initiative aims to create a Mining and Mineral Resources Coordination office to work with the National Mining Agency (ANM) to accelerate the regularization of miners. The plan also focuses on environmental licensing agility, technical support for cooperatives, mercury-free processing plants, and increased gold traceability.
Additionally, the plan includes the ‘Raízes de Rondônia’ project, designed to support indigenous, riverside, and quilombola populations. This program seeks to provide technical assistance, access to credit, and support for bioeconomy and cooperative activities. It also proposes improving healthcare through telemedicine and mobile structures, as well as facilitating the transport and sale of products for these traditional communities.
