Marcos Rojo transfer dispute stalls between Racing and Estudiantes
A transfer dispute between defender Marcos Rojo and Racing Club has reached a stalemate. Rojo, 36, has repeatedly missed training sessions to pressure for a move to Estudiantes de La Plata, where he hopes to play in the Copa Libertadores semifinals against Flamengo.
Racing President Diego Milito has firmly rejected the transfer, stating that Rojo is a fundamental piece of the squad and that the club has no intention of negotiating his departure. While Estudiantes reportedly made an offer of approximately $1.3 million, Racing has set strict economic conditions for any potential release. These include compensation for the remaining months of his contract, coverage of his outstanding salary debt, and a performance bonus for matches played in the Libertadores.
Despite the tension and reported heated arguments between Rojo and Milito, the player remains under contract with Racing until December. If a deal is not reached, Rojo will remain with the club for the remainder of the season.
