Marcus Coleman testifies before House Judiciary Committee regarding sanctuary policies

Marcus Coleman testified before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Tuesday, criticizing Democratic sanctuary policies following a 2024 accident that left his daughter, Dalilah, permanently disabled. The accident, which occurred in San Bernardino County, involved an 18-wheeler driven by Partap Singh, an undocumented immigrant from India who held a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the state of California.

Dalilah sustained severe injuries, including a fractured skull, resulting in cerebral palsy and global developmental delay. Coleman used his testimony to denounce lawmakers for “grandstanding” and accused them of failing to reach out to his family following the incident. He specifically criticized California officials and Democratic representatives for their handling of sanctuary policies.

The testimony supports the push for “Dalilah’s Law,” a legislative proposal introduced by President Donald Trump during his State of the Union address. The proposed law aims to restrict the eligibility of undocumented immigrants to obtain CDLs. The Trump administration is reportedly working to revoke certain licenses and shut down specific trucking schools as part of an effort to address road safety concerns related to illegal immigration.
