Marcus Davenport visits Chicago Bears to address pass-rush needs
Veteran free-agent defensive end Marcus Davenport visited the Chicago Bears for a workout on Sunday. The former first-round pick, previously with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, has established connections with the Bears' coaching staff, having played under defensive coordinator Dennis Allen with the New Orleans Saints.
The Bears are looking to bolster their pass rush, an area of need this offseason. While Davenport has a career total of 25 sacks, his recent production and availability have been concerns; he has recorded only four sacks over the last four seasons and has missed significant time due to injuries.
In addition to the Davenport news, the Bears received a boost as defensive end Montez Sweat returned to practice for the first time since August 6.
