Marcus Freeman praises Bill Belichick after Notre Dame loss to North Carolina

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman expressed respect for North Carolina coach Bill Belichick following the Tar Heels' 37-26 victory over the Fighting Irish. Freeman noted that Belichick’s strength lies in fundamental execution rather than trickery, stating, “He’s not going to try to trick you. He’s going to do what he does really, really well.” Freeman attributed Notre Dame’s struggles to North Carolina having an extra week of preparation during their bye week.

Following the loss, North Carolina faces challenges in their run game, having recorded only 64 yards on 20 carries against Notre Dame. Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino will look to improve the ground attack as the Tar Heels prepare to face the Pittsburgh Panthers. The upcoming matchup may be influenced by the absence of Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Heintschel, who recently suffered a torn ACL.
