Marcus Kinhult leads Nexo Championship after first round

Swedish golfer Marcus Kinhult has taken a two-shot lead after the first round of the Nexo Championship at the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Kinhult shot a 67 (-5), attributing his success to an exceptional short game and putting despite facing challenging winds and rain.

Amateur Eliot Baker made a significant impact during his DP World Tour debut, shooting a 3-under-par 69 to join a group of players tied for second place. Other notable performers include Andrew Wilson, Félix Mory, and Benjamin Follett-Smith, who also sit at -3. Italian golfer Matteo Manassero holds the 14th position at -1.

The tournament conditions have proven difficult, with only 20 players recording scores under par. The event is scheduled to continue through August 23, 2026.
