Marcus Rashford returns to Manchester United after Barcelona reject buy‑out

FC Barcelona declined to exercise the €30 million purchase option on England forward Marcus Rashford, ending his season‑long loan. During the 2025/26 campaign Rashford featured in 49 matches, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists as Barcelona secured both the LaLiga title and the Spanish Supercopa.

Rashford marked his departure with a heartfelt Instagram post thanking the club and its supporters, signing off with “Visca el Barça”. He is slated to re‑join Manchester United at the Carrington training ground in early August 2026. United have placed a valuation of roughly €40 million on the 28‑year‑old and, while reluctant to sell him to a Premier League rival, have left the door open for a possible reintegration under new manager Michael Carrick.

Transfer speculation has focused on Tottenham Hotspur, which have been linked to a £30 million offer, alongside occasional interest from other English clubs. The forward’s future remains uncertain pending negotiations and any concrete bid from a top European side.
