Marcus Rashford gets 25% salary rise at Manchester United despite zero minutes

Manchester United has increased striker Marcus Rashford's weekly wage by 25%, raising it to £325,000 for the 2025/26 season even though he did not play a single minute last season. The raise stems from a legacy contract clause, and the club also boosted goalkeeper Andre Onana's salary to £200,000 a week while he is on loan at Trabzonspor. Fans criticised the move on social media, calling it unfair and highlighting the lack of on‑field contribution.

Rashford, who spent the previous campaign on loan at Barcelona where he scored 14 goals and won a La Liga title, returned to Old Trafford after the loan was not made permanent. Although he missed pre‑season due to World Cup duties, former player Lee Sharpe suggested that if Rashford regains form he could become a contender for the Ballon d'Or and other individual awards.
