Marcus Trescothick seeks to remain as England Test batting coach

Marcus Trescothick has expressed his desire to remain with the England Test team despite reports that incoming head coach Stephen Fleming has approached Mike Hussey to take over the batting coach role.

Trescothick, who has been part of the England backroom staff since 2021, is currently serving as the interim coach. His tenure recently saw England secure a 1-0 lead in a three-match series against Pakistan following a significant victory at Headingley led by Trescothick and captain Joe Root.

Mike Hussey, a former Australian international, is reportedly considering an offer for the batting coach position from Fleming, with whom he previously worked at Chennai Super Kings. Trescothick stated, “I’d love to carry on, of course,” while noting his respect for Fleming’s leadership and coaching abilities.
