Mare Dentro launch in Crotone showcases MAVISU boat as symbol of solidarity
The regional marine‑parks authority inaugurated the "Mare Dentro" project at the Port of Crotone, using the confiscated vessel MAVISU – once used by human‑trafficking networks – as a traveling emblem of inclusion and marine‑environment awareness. The opening ceremony gathered director general of the parks Raffaele Greco, local officials, representatives of the Capitaneria di Porto, the Port Authority, media partners and NGOs. Attendees enjoyed a showcase of Calabrian cuisine with show‑cooking of blue fish prepared by chef Luciano Algieri and hosted by Roberto Cannizzaro, accompanied by regional wines and water brands.
The tour aims to promote the protection of marine biodiversity, sustainable tourism and responsible use of protected coastal areas across Calabria. After Crotone, the next stop is scheduled for Catanzaro on 29 July 2026, in collaboration with Lega Navale, the Conservatorio di Vibo Valentia, UNPLI Calabria and the regional diving network.
