Mare Terra and URV launch air quality monitoring in Tarragona
The Mare Terra Fundació Mediterrània and the CROMA research group from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) have entered into an agreement to expand air quality monitoring in the Ponent neighborhoods of Tarragona, Spain.
The project involves the strategic installation of between eight and ten passive samplers throughout the area, which is considered highly exposed to industrial activity. The initiative aims to detect various volatile organic compounds (VOCs), with a specific focus on 1,3-butadiene, benzene, and ethylbenzene.
Following collection, samples will be transported to URV laboratories for analysis. This collaboration builds upon a previous project initiated in October, which utilized advanced measurement equipment. The goal of the new deployment is to provide independent and transparent data regarding the air quality residents breathe in these specific districts.
