Marek Cekała Memorial Football Tournament held in Lidzbark Warmiński

The 11th annual Marek Cekała Memorial Football Tournament for men and women took place in Lidzbark Warmiński from September 9 to 11, 2026. The event, which competes for the Chief Police Commander's Cup, began with a ceremony at the Police Prevention Unit in Olsztyn to honor Junior Inspector Marek Cekała, a police officer killed in the line of duty in 2002.

The tournament featured 110 matches. In the women's competition, which included nine teams, the West Pomeranian Police women's team secured fifth place. Despite being a newly formed team established in May 2026, they advanced from the group stage and won their fifth-place playoff against the Lublin Police team via a 4-3 penalty shootout.
