Marek Pakowski, veteran TVP camera operator, dies at 76

Marek Pakowski, a prominent camera operator for Telewizja Polska (TVP) and the Telewizyjna Agencja Informacyjna (TAI), has died at the age of 76. His death was announced on September 8, 2026, by journalist and longtime friend Krzysztof Rogala.

Pakowski, born in Warsaw in 1950, was a highly regarded professional in the Polish media industry. He was responsible for filming significant social and political events both in Poland and internationally. Beyond news reporting, his career included work on documentaries and film productions, such as ‘Wyspa Jana Lenicy’ and ‘Clara zza siódmej góry’.

Colleagues and friends, including journalist Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz, have paid tribute to his professionalism and character. Pakowski completed his television studies at the Łódź Film School in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Matylda, and two daughters.
