Fundacja Marka Polska faces scrutiny over AI report and costs
The Fundacja Marka Polska Think Tank is facing intense scrutiny following the publication of the “Polaków Portret Własny” report, which contained numerous errors and appeared to be largely generated by artificial intelligence. The controversy has led to the resignation of Barbara Mróz-Gorgoń from her position as the government plenipotentiary for the promotion of the Polish brand.
In a series of statements, the Foundation's board distanced itself from the report, noting that the current leadership took office after its publication. The board also clarified that the Foundation was not a party to the contract with the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, asserting that the actual contractor was the Stowarzyszenie Konferencje i Kongresy w Polsce. The Foundation further stated it had not received funds from that specific agreement.
Additional controversy surrounds the projected costs of the brand promotion project, which were estimated to reach between 520 and 670 million PLN over three years. Proposed expenditures included high-tech solutions such as AI-driven targeting systems, metaverse events, and NFT collections. The Polish National Foundation confirmed it covered the printing costs for a related report, “Poland: A Global Impact,” citing extreme haste in its preparation.
