Marella Cruises launches UK's first musical-themed cruise as 'The Lion King' tops British favourite musical poll

A survey released on August 5 by Marella Cruises, the cruise line of TUI, found Disney's The Lion King to be Britain's favourite musical, with 18% of respondents voting for it, ahead of Mamma Mia! (16%) and Grease (15%). The same poll showed the musical as the most‑watched, with a quarter of Britons having seen it live on stage. ABBA's "Dancing Queen" was the top‑ranked show‑tune song.

Based on the findings, Marella Cruises is launching Musical Med‑leys, the company's first musical‑themed cruise. The five‑night voyage aboard the Marella Voyager will feature live performances and Q&A sessions with West End stars such as Zoe Birkett, Lee Mead and Jenna Lee‑James, catering to the strong public enthusiasm for musical theatre.
