Marelli and Microchip launch display connectivity for software-defined vehicles

Marelli and Microchip Technology have announced a new display connectivity solution designed for software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The technology utilizes the ASA Motion Link (ASA-ML) open standard to transmit graphic and video content directly from a vehicle’s central computer to dashboard displays.

By adopting this open standard, the solution aims to simplify electronic architectures, reduce costs, and increase manufacturer flexibility by allowing the integration of components from different vendors. The system supports high-speed data transmission of up to 16 Gbps, enabling the synchronized display of camera feeds, navigation maps, infotainment graphics, and vehicle control interfaces.

Security features include link-layer authentication and encryption within the communication channel. The technology is designed to support the industry shift toward centralized computing and Ethernet-based architectures while maintaining low power consumption and high reliability against electromagnetic noise.
