Margaret Atwood protests book banning and censorship

Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood is addressing the increasing censorship of her work. Her books, including 'The Handmaid's Tale', 'The Testaments', and 'The Blind Assassin', have been removed from 135 American school districts and faced restrictions in Edmonton, Alberta.

Atwood participated in a charity auction to benefit PEN America, a nonprofit dedicated to defending free speech, by using a flamethrower to torch an edition of her own book as a symbolic protest against book banning. Her works have been targeted for content deemed by some to be anti-Christian, morally corrupt, or overly sexual.
