Margarita Di Tullio's life depicted in new film ‘Pepita, La Pistolera’

The film ‘Pepita, La Pistolera’, directed by Lucía Puenzo, portrays the life of Margarita Di Tullio, a woman from Mar del Plata who became a public figure in the mid-1990s. Di Tullio gained notoriety after killing armed intruders in her home in self-defense, which led to a conviction for excessive self-defense. She was also erroneously linked to the investigation of journalist José Luis Cabezas.

Actress Luisana Lopilato stars as Di Tullio and also serves as an executive producer. Lopilato described the role as a significant professional transformation involving both physical and internal changes to capture the essence of the historical figure. The film explores themes of justice, politics, and female empowerment. Following its theatrical release, the production is expected to arrive on the Disney+ streaming platform.
