Margarita Maza high schools expansion begins in Estado de México
The Mexican federal and State of Mexico governments have launched the construction of three new Margarita Maza National High Schools as part of the Plan Oriente. These facilities, located in Chicoloapan, La Paz, and Valle de Chalco, represent an investment of 50 million pesos each. Each campus is designed to house 900 students and will feature 12 classrooms, a multifunctional laboratory, and three computer labs.
However, the expansion of this educational model faces challenges in Calimaya. In the community of San Diego La Huerta, the construction of a planned Margarita Maza high school is at risk due to disagreements over the designated site. While the community has proposed using ejido land from Zaragoza, the property is not currently owned by the Calimaya municipality and does not yet meet the legal or land-use requirements necessary for the federal program.
