Margarita Theodoraki criticizes ban on performing Hadjidakis songs

Margarita Theodoraki, daughter of the late composer Mikis Theodorakis, has criticized the recent decision by Giorgos Hadjidakis to prohibit Manolis Mitsias from performing his father's songs. Speaking in an interview on the program ‘Studio 4’, she described the prohibition as a “huge stupidity” (τεράστια βλακεία).

Theodoraki argued that such restrictions cause the public to forget the legacy of Hadjidakis. She noted that while her generation and those slightly younger may remember him, younger generations born after 2000 are largely unfamiliar with major figures like Theodorakis, Xarchakos, or Savopoulos.

During the interview, she also shared personal reflections on her father, mentioning his advice to always move forward and remain strong. She expressed that she feels his presence closely and remains proud of her connection to his life and work.
