Florida lightning strike kills mother and 2-year-old daughter

A 31-year-old woman, Kenya Glasgow, and her 2-year-old daughter, Kennedi, were killed by a lightning strike in Margate, Florida, on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. as the family was attempting to seek shelter from intensifying thunderstorms.

According to local police and witnesses, the mother and child had just exited their vehicle when the lightning struck. First responders performed CPR at the scene before transporting the victims to separate medical centers in Deerfield Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Both were pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospitals.

Kameron Glasgow, the husband and father, survived the strike but reported feeling the residual electrical discharge from the ground. He described the loss of his wife and daughter as an unbearable tragedy. The family's surviving daughter, Kensli, who is the identical twin of the deceased child, was not struck. The Margate Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
