Margate police investigate pedestrian accident involving 89-year-old woman

An 89-year-old woman is in critical condition following a vehicle accident in Margate, New Jersey. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, shortly before 7:30 pm, at the intersection of Jerome and Winchester Avenues.

According to the Margate City Police Department, a vehicle was attempting a left turn onto Winchester Avenue from Jerome Avenue when it struck the woman while she was in the crosswalk. The pedestrian received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, identified as 84-year-old Stephen J. Thack, remained at the scene to speak with authorities and was reportedly uninjured. Police are currently investigating the accident, and no summonses have been issued at this time.
