Marghera: Body of man found in industrial zone canal
The body of a man, approximately 40 years old, was discovered in a canal in the industrial area of Marghera, near Venice, on Sunday afternoon. The discovery was made around 4:30 PM by a passerby who had gone to the area for fishing.
Emergency services, including the Venice Questura, scientific police, Mestre firefighters with divers, and Carabinieri from Spinea, attended the scene. Initial reports suggest the deceased may be a foreign national from Central Africa. The individual was found with some personal effects, and investigators believe the body had not been in the water for a long period.
Authorities have transferred the body to the morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to establish whether there were any signs of violence or injury. An investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances leading to the discovery.
