A 72-year-old man, identified as Roberto Vianello, died after being struck by a delivery van in Marghera, Italy. The incident occurred around 1:00 PM near Piazza del Municipio on Via del Canal Bernardo.
Vianello, a retired nurse who had previously worked at the Venice Civil Hospital, was walking near a medical center when the collision occurred. Local police reports indicate that the pedestrian was not on a crosswalk at the moment of impact, though he was in the immediate vicinity. The driver of the logistics vehicle was reportedly making a turn when the pedestrian entered the roadway.
Emergency responders from Suem 118 performed resuscitation efforts on-site before transporting Vianello to the Ospedale dell'Angelo in Mestre. Despite medical intervention, he passed away shortly after arriving at the emergency room. Local police have temporarily closed the area to conduct technical investigations into the exact dynamics of the accident.
